If you enjoy walking, then you have certainly come to the right place! There are several walks leading directly from our front door as well as coastal walks within a short driving distance. At reception we have a lot of step-by-step walks straight from the hotel. The Quantock Hills are an area of wilderness and tranquillity. Panoramic views lead you through coast, heath, and combe. Explore and you will find rocky Jurassic coastline, exposed heathland summits, deep wooded combes, undulating farmland, and attractive villages all within this protected landscape. Combe House Hotel is located directly in the village of Holford and Holford Combe is most definitely one of those very picturesque places criss-crossed by streams and a covered in ancient woodland to create a beautiful place to walk and hike along regardless of the season.

Taunton – the nearby county town has all the popular high street stores along with many other nice boutiques. Approx 30 minutes by car.
Dunster is a nearby medieval village with lots of pretty little gift shops selling unique and handmade gifts. Approx 40 minutes by car.
Cribbs Causeway, Bristol is a large indoor shopping mall with a wide variety of different department stores and a food hall. Approx 60 minutes by car.
Clarks Village, Street has over 90 outlets offering up to 60% off the usual recommended retail prices. A great place to grab a bargain! Approx 60 minutes by car.
Watchet is an ‘oldy-worldy’ town with a lot of character with independent shops, cafés, and an art gallery, as well as weekly and monthly markets.

Kilve Beach is famous for its fossils and fine views across to Wales, only 5 minutes by car.
Dunster Castle – A stunning 17th century Castle which is now owned by the National Trust. Guided tours are available as well as many other events throughout the year. Approx 40 minutes by car.
Hestercombe Gardens – Hestercombe is a unique collection of three gardens spanning three centuries of garden history and design. All have undergone acclaimed restoration works, and today provide important examples of gardens in contrasting styles that continue to grow and develop. Well worth a visit! Approx 45 minutes by car.
West Somerset Steam Railway – Why not unwind as the steam trains of West Somerset Railway take you on a leisurely 20 mile journey between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead. A great opportunity to see the glorious Somerset countryside with many small picturesque villages to stop at on the way.
Cheddar Caves and Gorge – There is plenty to do here with a Cliff- Top walk along the 3 mile gorge, The Crystal Quest, Cox’s Cave and the Museum of Prehistory this attraction is both fascinating and educational. Approx 60 minutes by car.
Fleet Air Arm Museum – Europe’s number 1 Naval Aviation Museum. Go onboard the first British built Concorde, experience life on an aircraft carrier and a flight deck and much much more, approx 70 minutes by car.
Glastonbury is the home of the world famous Glastonbury Festival, and is renowned for it’s spirituality. A ‘hippy’ town, which is one of a kind!
Wells Cathedral – Wells is a sight definitely to be seen and should be visited if you have a few days in Somerset, to which you can visit the beautiful town and perhaps head over to the quaint village of Shepton Mallett as well.
